Mariya - Character Design

Character design commission

About the designs:
1. Cryptic. She wears a simple and light dress, with lacy details around the waist and wrists. Her eyes are covered by her own hair, wrapped around her head. Her own hair wrapped around her head is also symbolic of her anxiety and how sharp emotions can blind her. She wears small black shoes and lacy socks.
2. Fantasy. Her torso, shoulders, and neck are covered in intricate lace designs. The piece rises towards a mask of lace that covers her entire upper head, only leaving the occasional peaks of skin and auburn hair. The same heavy lacy details cover her shoes. A more armored look, a sign of how she keeps contained in fear of her situation repeating itself.
3. Horror. Layers of soft textile are wrapped around her in a makeshift dress, paired with torn laces covering her body (chest, arms, and legs). More lace covers her eyes. Built around the concept of a revived corpse covering oneself with whatever they could find in an attempt to feign normalcy, and while it works there is something amiss and unnatural.
4. Folklore. Layers upon layers of shawls and clothing and lace make up her outfit, contrasting against strands of auburn hair that come across it. Similar to the concept above, but more carefully kept, an attempt to hide oneself under several layers. She is barefoot.
5. Soft fantasy. Her dress is long, flowy, and simple, safe for the lacy details in her veil and torso. Matches her soft-spoken side.
6. Costume. Based on eastern european cultures, a more traditional take on the dress and the veil that covers her eyes. She wears small boots, with likely some small designs on the sides.
